Downtown Daytona

Quick History

Daytona originated in Downtown. Before Mathias Day purchased the Downtown area for an early real estate development, it was an orange grove owned by the Williams family. After the railroad, Beach Street became the commercial center for the area.

Unique Attributes and Places

Downtown has a mile-long Riverfront Park and two public island parks. It has a theater venue and a baseball stadium where Jackie Robinson broke the racial barrier in sports.

Looking Forward

This area prides itself as the living room of the community with a village setting that will attract both locals and visitors. Lofts, brownstones, and historic homes are making this an attractive area for the Bohemian at heart.
